ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Training

This course is comprehensive training in lead auditor techniques, methodology, practices and skills. It was designed and developed by a team who created and managed an accredited registrar. The course contains a solid body of quality management systems (QMS) auditing knowledge, accumulated from over ten years of QMS audits. 

The purpose of the SFMA course in ISO 9001:2000 Lead Auditor Training is to increase the understanding on how to effectively and efficiently Lead and Manage an Audit Team through an ISO Audit. This five-day comprehensive course teaches the trainee about the full ISO 9000 registration process, including auditing quality manuals and quality procedures. The course is built around a variety of workshops, case studies, including quality manual and quality procedures that students will audit. The seminar concludes with a final examination. The course runs approximately eight (8) hours per day, with a two (2) hour exam on the fifth (5th) day.

  • Developing effective auditing techniques and the knowledge to training other Internal Auditors
  • Effectively Audit Top Management
  • Identifying key activities for performing a successful audit
  • Evaluating the significance of audit findings
  • Improving communication skills for the presentation of audit findings
  • Reporting the findings and evaluations
  • Developing and implementing corrective action programs
  • Auditing continual improvement programs

At the completion of this course participants will have an understanding of the following:

  • Contents and requirements of ISO 9001:2000
  • Role of ISO 19011 Auditing Guidelines
  • Duties and Responsibilities of the Lead Auditor and Internal Auditors
  • How to organize and manage the audit process and have the ability to deal with management personnel
  • Effectively use oral and communication skills and the ability to organize and document the final audit report
  • Preparing and conducting Opening and Closing Meetings
  • How to classify and document a Major or Minor Nonconformity
  • Purpose of the Quality Manual, Procedures, Work Instructions, Records, and Forms and how they relate to each other
  • How to complete a Documentation Review
  • How to use the ISO 9001:2000 standard during the audit, with fair and accurate interpretations
  • How to prepare for all phases of an audit
  • How to prepare Audit Checklists
  • How to prepare an Audit Schedule or Audit Plan
  • How to gather Audit Evidence during the Audit
  • The documentation of Concerns or Opportunities For Improvement
  • Importance of documenting Observations during an audit
  • Preparing an Audit Report
  • How to evaluate a Corrective Action Plan
  • How to evaluate effectiveness of the Corrective Action
