Project Management Training
The purpose of the SFMA course in Project Management is to impart practical knowledge to managers, engineers and others on how to manage projects effectively. Also to teach the skills necessary to establish the needed project steps based on assigned goals, and to complete them within the time and budget constraints imposed.
The course is presented in three parts. Phase I is an introduction to project management concepts. Phase II is a practical applications tutorial for implementing project management techniques. Phase III is an advanced applications tutorial to guide project management practitioners to greater understanding and effectiveness in applying the concepts.
Phase I: Introduction to Project Management Concepts
- Differences between process and project management
- How project management fits within the organization structure
- Understanding objectives, goals, and projects process; and how the project management process integrates within the business system
- The project management sequence
- The project management team and how it fits within the corporate organization structure
- When a project management approach is appropriate
- Potential uses for project management within the client�s operations
Phase II: Project Management Techniques
- The classic model and planning cycle
- Visions, missions, objectives, and goals relationships
- Setting up the project
- Implementing the project
- Project close-out
- Critical Path Methods of establishing and monitoring project schedules
Phase III: Advanced Project Management Concepts
- Financial methods used in project management
- Factoring in risk assessment in evaluating project management choices
- Setting up contingencies to mitigate risks
- Defining project success or failure related to risks
- Organizational dynamics for successful project management
- Communications skills necessary to lead a successful project
- Problem solving and decision making techniques used in project management
- Training techniques to improve team performance
- Uses of probability and statistics for project management
- Systems concepts for project management
- Use of commercially available software tools
