“New Firearms Law takes effect July 1” What effect will this have on your workplace?
On April 15, Florida Governor Charlie Crist signed into law a bill (H.B. 503) that allows customers and workers who have been issued concealed-carry permits to store firearms in their vehicles while locked on company property. The Florida law, entitled the "Preservation and Protection of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in Motor Vehicles Act of 2008," is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2008.
The controversial legislation tries to balance the constitutional rights of citizens to keep and bear arms against the constitutional property rights of private property owners to decide whether to permit firearms on their property. This SFMA seminar was planned to tell you how your workplace will be affected, inform you of your rights and obligations and to answer your questions.
Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from the legal experts at Lewis Longman and Walker and to network with other interested SFMA members.
