SFMA Broward Seminar: Guns in the Workplace

Hosted by SFMA and sponsored by Randstad Inhouse Services and Lewis Longman & Walker, P.A.

“New Firearms Law takes effect July 1”  What effect will this have on your workplace?

On April 15, Florida Governor Charlie Crist signed into law a bill (H.B. 503) that allows customers and workers who have been issued concealed-carry permits to store firearms in their vehicles while locked on company property. The Florida law, entitled the "Preservation and Protection of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in Motor Vehicles Act of 2008," is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2008.

The controversial legislation tries to balance the constitutional rights of citizens to keep and bear arms against the constitutional property rights of private property owners to decide whether to permit firearms on their property. This SFMA seminar was planned to tell you how your workplace will be affected, inform you of your rights and obligations and to answer your questions.

Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from the legal experts at Lewis Longman and Walker and to network with other interested SFMA members.

Date: June 19th 2008

Time: 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.

Location: Hoerbiger Compression Technology America Holding, Inc.
3350 Gateway Drive
Pompano Beach, FL 33069
Training Room: on the 2nd floor

Refreshments will be served.

** Lewis Longman & Walker wants to be prepared to answer all your questions, so please email them to us ahead of the seminar to allow time for research if necessary. We will then prepare a Q&A handout for you to take back to your workplace. ***

We greatly appreciate Randstad Inhouse Services for sponsoring the location and refreshments, and Lewis, Longman, and Walker, P.A. for offering their legal experts to conduct the seminar.

If you have any questions, contact Sara Feder at sfeder@sfma.org or 954-941-3558.
